Corporalidade e linguagem: a construção de sentido em uma perspectiva neural
Keywords:
Frames, Neural Theory of Language, Image schemasAbstract
Cognitive Linguistics postulates that mind is embodied, i.e., it is an apparatus composed of cognitive structures that arises from interaction between body and environment. Therefore, it is a field of study that enhances the body's role in the construction of cognitive apparatus and hence the language-related practices, since language does not dissociate from cognition. Authors linked to this view argue that the meaning construction process has, at its base, activation of mental structures denominated image schemas and frames. The Neural Theory of Language, whose studies show that such structures are neural circuits, endorses this view. In this article, we focus at the contributions of this field for Cognitive Linguistics, specifically regarding the role of image schemas and frames in the construction meaning processes.
