Since the Celtic origin to the present day, the fairy tale bears the marks of the genre that reinvents itself, gaining new readers. In this reinvention, one of the strategies used by various authors is the mood present in parodied versions. This article aims to analyze how the linguistic and textual resources generate the mood in the text "Hoz malepon viuh Echer or Hunter," Flavio de Souza, parody from the fairy tale "Red Riding Hood" by the Brothers Grimm. We propose to analyze how the threads of intertextuality tailor the form and content, and to discuss the carnivalization and its effects. The theoretical framework includes studies of different areas, such as Bakhtin (1981), Koch, Bentes & Cavalcante (2007); Coelho (1987; 2003), Jenny (1979); Monegal (1980) Guelfi (1996), Cuba Riche & Pondé (2002), Sant'Anna (1988). We also feature activities that can be developed with students in the early years of the second segment of Elementary School – period in which this genre appears frequently in the school curriculum.
