Russian legacy in Applied Linguistics: Activity Theory

This paper aims at highlighting contributions to Language Studies from the Russians:
Vygostky’s, Leontiev's, and Davydov's, specially Activity Theory (AT). Thus, we present a
brief historical overview of AT, focusing on its origins and generations. Next, we present
recent researches carried out in contexts mediated by digital technology of information
and communication (DTIC) which used Activity Theory as method for data analysis
