The school newspaper as a resource for literacy practices in elementary education
Keywords:

This paper aims to present a literacy project through the production of a school newspaper, which has been developed in a municipal school located in the district of Campo Grande, Rio de Janeiro. The term "literacy" proposes the development of reading and writing skills, in order for the individual to
recognize that the text has a social purpose. To reconcile this proposal of
literacy with the technological advances inherent in our time, we have thought of reviewing an old pedagogical practice - the elaboration of a school newspaper, changing the support: instead of paper, a virtual site. Therefore, the "Charles News" is an online newspaper that presents a proposal of integration of the school community and aims at improving the reading and writing skills of some journalistic genres. It is also necessary to clarify that, as directed by the Parâmetros Curriculares Nacionais (PCN) of Portuguese Language, the school newspaper is a simulation of a real newspaper, because it suffers adaptations to be applied in a pedagogical context. The "Charles News" is coordinated by the teacher of the reading room, and other teachers regents and students collaborate with the contents published.
