Abstract

This paper takes into account the relation between speech and ideology when it 
approaches the relations between discourse and power in Animal Farm, by 
George Orwell. According to Maingueneau (2007), the discourse of an identity is 
not limited to the vocabulary or sentences, however, is associated to a global comprehension that links the textual dimensions to a sociohistorical representation system. As from these assumptions, the otherness becomes 
essential for the discursive formations in the social imaginary formation (PÊCHEAUX, 2009). In that analyzed literary work, published in 1945, we can 
notice the discursive subjectification in the construction of a satire of the Stalinist

    Possui graduação em Letras - português / inglês (bacharelado em 2002 e licenciatura em 2003) pela UFRJ. Concluiu o mestrado (2005) e o Doutorado (2010) em Literatura Comparada pela mesma universidade. Foi professor substituto de teoria literária e literatura comparada da Faculdade de Letras da UFRJ (2006-2007). Atualmente é professor de literaturas de língua inglesa pela FAMA (Faculdade Machado de Assis) e professor concursado de português e inglês da FAETERJ (Faculdade de Educação Tecnológica do Estado do Rio de Janeiro), exercendo atualmente o cargo de diretor da instituição.
